The Queen Bee
Artist: Marta Alonso
Mural Location: Currently undetermined, though we have some ideas for prominent locations downtown. If you own a piece of property downtown and would like to host this mural please contact Lia.
This stunning image was painted by local artist Marta Alonso. We are currently gathering funds to install a large scale version of the painting as a mural in a prominent location in downtown Fort Bragg. One in ten pollinating insects is on the verge of extinction, and a third of our bee and butterfly species is declining. We want to raise awareness through the power of art and honor the pollinators.
Did you know that Fort Bragg was the very first official Bee City USA in California? We couldn't bee prouder.
Current funding: $1937.50 (We will update this number daily.)
Please help us bring this gorgeous piece of public art to Fort Bragg! Your donation will go directly to pay for paint and the artist's time.
If you are a local mission-driven business or organization who would like to co-sponsor this mural please get in touch through the contact form below. We couldn't make gorgeous murals happen without amazing partners such as The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, who sponsored the Rhododendrons.
We'd like to extend special heartfelt thanks to the beekeeping community of Fort Bragg who have gathered donations and raised so much support for this installation. We are in awe of their generosity and team spirit. Special thanks to Valerie Frey and to the Love & Light Healing Center!
